Resin is an extremely sticky substance. It hardens over time as it cures. Therefore, making sure that you take care of and protect your furniture and clothing from resin is vital. I know that I have mentioned this in previous blogs but that's how important and serious this is.
But other than making sure that you take care of the material things around you, you want to make sure that you take care of YOU. You want to make sure that you are taking the necessary precautions to make sure that your health is being protected while using resin. There are certified non-toxic and harmless resins, which I prefer and which I use. However, you still want to be careful even with that. Resin can cause skin irritations as well when it comes in contact with your skin so take this serious and take the necessary precautions available.
Disposable Nitrile Gloves
I've said it before and I'll stay it again, nitrile gloves are highly recommended! They are snug and it's very rare for anything to get inside of these gloves as you're working unless you're just super messy or unless you rip them, which does happen from time to time but that's okay. If and when you rip them just make sure to switch your gloves out.
Respiratory Protective Mask
Always mask up! Yes, there are certified non-toxic and harmless resin that does exist. I use them myself. However, if you are not working in a well ventilated space I still highly recommend that you mask up. This protects your health and always keep that first! I've linked an affordable mask below. They're inexpensive and they assure that you will continue to remain healthy to be able to continuously enjoy your new craft of resin art.
Safety Glasses
You do not want resin getting into your eyes! It's not a problem that has an easy fix. I never got resin and my eyes and I don't plan to. I do not want to be the person that can tell you about how important it is because I've experienced it. NO! I never want to experience it. I couldn't even imagine!! So, with that being said, protect your eyes at all cost. Safety glasses will make sure that you do not get resin in your eyes.
