Hey beautiful people! Y'all I have been talking about creating a blog for so long and I just got tired of having it in my mind without doing anything with it so here I am!
I'm going to give y'all a little bit of my background and how I got started on my resin journey and how I grew as an artist and designer.
About Me
My name is Brittany Michelle (It's my first and middle name but so many people share the name "Brittany" with me and I don't want to get categorized without having something stand out. So yes, please say the "Michelle".) I am 27 years old depending on when you're reading this. It's 2021 right now. I was born in Sierra Vista, AZ. Raised in Columbia, SC. And I currently reside in Atlanta, GA. I was born on February 23, 1994. Yes, I'm a pisces for those of you who care about astrology. I honestly don't know much about it but it's a question I get a lot so I just decided to throw it out there.
I Quit My Job
I started experimenting with resin on May 13, 2020 in my mother's kitchen y'all. So let me tell y'all what made me decide to start!
I quit my job on March 14, 2019. March 13, 2019 was my last day actually working. Yes, you read it correctly. I actually quit my job before ever knowing what resin was. I do NOT recommend quitting without a plan unless you feel really led to and you're obeying God. I always knew I was supposed to be an entrepreneur I just didn't know exactly what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. I received a call on March 13, 2019 from my Dad and his wife saying that he was diagnosed with ALS. That honestly changed things for me. I started thinking about taking full control of my life and actually start LIVING versus just surviving. You know we've heard all of our lives "live life to the fullest." "tomorrow isn't promised". But you know what I never considered? The fact that I don't have to actually physically die in order for that quote to be applicable. Because here my dad is in his 40s and he's not physically able to do anything but blink. It gave me perspective and woke me up like nothing else could have.
Self Discovery
Shortly after I quit my job I began a journey of self discovery. A journey I had no idea I was about to go on. I was in panic mode at first. Because let's be clear my responsibilities did not stop and I still had to figure out a way to bring in income! Thankfully I had a Mom who was very much so supportive and she allowed me to live with her until I figured it out. I'll always be grateful for that. I started watching YouTube videos searching things like "ways to make money" "how to make money online" "number 1 ways to get paid from home", etc. and I started to discover that I don't really know myself. I didn't know what I actually liked. I didn't know what I was good at.
I was the kid in school who always had to make something up on the parts where we had to write down our talents and hobbies. I never felt like I had any ... up until this point where I was forced to figure it out. One day I came across a youtube video of a lady making a resin tray. It was the most intriguing thing I had ever seen in my life! I instantly started watching resin videos on how to make these products. I was in love! I quit my job so I didn't have much money but I basically used my last to purchase the products to be able to make one myself.
My Resin Journey
I went and bought the cheapest stuff I could find (none of it was actually cheap though lol) and I came home and made my first coaster set. (Pictured below). I didn't really know that this was the beginning of something BIG! I posted them on facebook because I was just super excited about how pretty it turned out and I started getting messages from people wanting to purchase and the inquiries have not stopped since! Who would have thought?!

Finding My Niche
So the more orders that came in, the more money I started making to be able to experiment with different products. I started making trays, cutting boards, letter blocks, and then signs. I tried so many different products and so many different styles until I discovered which product my audience liked most and which product I enjoyed making the most. I had to find something that was a win-win for both myself and my clients. I was only able to discover my niche of signage by experimenting with different types of products. Each step helped me to come closer and closer into figuring it out. Don't skip steps y'all and definitely don't be afraid to experiment. Just about all of your discoveries will come from experimentation. Don't run from that, run to it!
I Tripled My Good Paying Jobs Income
Christmas season came along and my resin business exploded! I mean I was getting orders left and right and I was excited about it. That was the "ah ha" moment for me that I can really make money from doing something that I actually love to do. Like I can legit make a living off of this. I knew the people wanted it. Now it was up to me to strategize, expand, and grow.
